Lloyd Watts is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Neocortix, Inc., and serves on its Board of Directors.
Prior to founding Neocortix, Dr. Watts was the Founder of Audience, Inc. in the year 2000. From 2000-2005, he served as Chief Executive Officer and raised the first $10M in venture capital financing. From 2005-2011, he was the Chief Technology Officer. From 2011-2013, he was the Chief Scientist. Audience went public in 2012 (NASDAQ: ADNC) and reached a peak market valuation of about $300M, before being acquired by Knowles in 2015.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Watts worked as an engineer at Interval Research Corporation, Arithmos, Synaptics, and Microtel Pacific Research.
He received the B.Sc. degree (Engineering Physics) from Queen’s University in 1984, the M.A.Sc degree (Electrical Engineering) from Simon Fraser University in 1989, and the Ph.D. degree (Electrical Engineering) from the California Institute of Technology in 1992, where he studied with Silicon Valley pioneer Carver Mead.
